When we accept the teachings of the Word of God to live our lives according to them, we are established upon a foundation that will be reflected in how we relate to others and our citizenship. By nature we are self-centered and self-serving. Love teaches us the opposite. By living in committed to Truth and loyalty our marriage, our family, our country will be maintained and preserved.

Soon we will commemorate Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day in which we rejoice in our liberty and its freedoms remembering the sacrifices that have been made to attain and maintain them.. An important component of citizenship is to: “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.” 1 Peter 2:13-14

Sometimes, as Americans, we take our liberty and freedom for granted and expect that it will always be so. Knowing that we have enemies, both within our borders and without it requires that we faithfully pray for our country and its leaders.

As our love for God, as Christians, motivates us to do His will, may it also continue to direct our lives, in obedience to His Word, in such a way that we may rightly serve our nation, mindful of the warning and blessings which God has recorded in 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” May we thus be reminded to thank God for His blessings, as we seek His grace upon us, that we may continue to enjoy and rejoice over peace in our land. For truly this is a GREAT blessing of God.

God bless our families and america!
